Today saw iSport finish the Monaco weekend in style, when driver Jolyon Palmer got his first win of the season in the Sprint Race, giving iSport their second podium of the weekend.

Palmer got off to an impressive start, taking the lead from Richelmi early on, whilst team mate Marcus Ericsson went from 7th to 5th. However, a dramatic collision followed, when first Richelmi collided with Calado, and then Ceccoto spun at Massanet, causing a multi-car pileup. The incident resulted in a restart, minus 10 cars, including championship leader Valsecchi.

When the safety car came in on lap 3, Palmer made another great getaway, increasing his gap from Calado by 1.8secs on the first lap. When Calado pitted due to wing damage from the earlier Richelmi incident, Chilton took 2nd, and Palmer went onto make a near 10 second lead by halfway. Meanwhile, with Calado pitting after his Black and Orange flag, Ericsson gained a position, however Van der Garde was faultless, resulting in Ericsson unable to make much ground, finishing the race in 4th place. Palmer continued to dominate the race, despite pressure from Chilton, seeing him get his first win of the season, on what is classed as one of the most challenging circuits of the race calendar.

"I got off to an awesome start to jump into the lead, and after the safety car I was able to build a good lead. Then I just managed the gap to Max Chilton without taking any risks. I have to say a big thank you to iSport for all their hard work after an unlucky start to the season. Hopefully now we can carry this momentum through to the next rounds at Valencia and be fighting at the front again."

Paul Jackson - Team Principal

“Another good day for the team as Jolyon claimed his first GP2 win, and Marcus came from 7th through to 4th. This weekend has really kick started our season and given everybody a boost. It is a very special occasion for Jolyon, and confirms the huge progress he has made and his growing stature as a real contender. Marcus has also shown that without bad luck or stupid incidents, he is back at the front where he belongs. Just to add a finishing touch to the weekend, we were hosting some guests from our team sponsors, Prosouce who were able to join in the celebrations with us.”

With the spell of recent bad luck now over, iSport are real contenders for the championship, where they sit in 7th place. The team will now break, before heading to the Valencia, Spain for Round 5 of the 12 Round 2012 GP2 Series.
