Great improvement but no points after accidents for DAMS

The DAMS drivers have shown a good level in today's race in Imola before race facts took them out of the points.

Ferdinando Monfardini : "On the start I managed to pass 3 cars, the beginning of the race was very exciting as I was in group with many fights. I managed to pass 2 cars before I decided to save my tires for a few laps and not taking risks. We stopped when the safety car came on the track, the team did a fantastic job which helped me to gain 3 more places in 9th position. I caught Filippi, I was faster than him but he was doing everything he could to keep his position. After 6 laps behind him he did an early braking in the entry of Villeneuve corner, I was a bit surprised and I changed my line in order to avoid him but I touched him, we went out. We managed to go back on the track and the race control gave me a drive through penalty so it was over for getting points. The car was great, I pushed hard in the ultimate laps of the race and did my best lap with old tires. We have made a good step after yesterday's qualifying and this is really good for the future."

Franck Perera : "I was blocked by Lopez who had a problem in the start and I lost a few positions there. I was in group of cars and the fight was quite intense, I had to go in the grass once to avoid a contact. Due to the traffic we decided to anticipate the pit stop. After that the car was very fast but I was pushed out when I passed Negrao, it was over. It is really frustrating but I am happy with the improvement of our level of performance."

Race 2 : Sunday 23rd April 10.00
