Hirate e Maldonado end Race 1 out of points
Trident Racing suffered an unlucky break at the Hungaroring. Pastor Maldonado started from row 3, and climbed up to 4th before having to retire due to an hard crash. Kohei Hirate faced a comeback race since the beginning, after he stalled his engine on the grid and took way from the pits. Kohei and Pastor will start tomorrow`s Race 2 respectively in 11th and 23rd position.
Maurizio Salvadori, Team Owner
"Today I really expected more from our drivers. With the happenings seen on-track, we lost a clear occasion to score valuable points, especially considering what happened to our main rivals. Unfortunately, some driving mistakes conditioned today`s results, despite the great speed shown by the cars, preventing us from fighting for a top spot.
Kohei Hirate, 11
"Today`s race started in a bad way for me. I stalled my engine on the grid but, fortunately, I managed to get it working again when I was pushed by race stewards towards the pits, and then I took off from the pit-lane. In the first laps I had the chance to push hard, and I found a very good pace, better than in qualifying. I was so sorry because, due to another mistake while I was fighting for 8th , I lost a points finish and a possible pole position for tomorrow".
Pastor Maldonado, DNF
"After a good start, that allowed be to climb up to 4th place, things didn`t go on as I expected. I didn`t have a good feeling with the car, and I decided to not push too much due to an annoying oversteer. Then, on lap 8, I suddenly lost control of the car and wrecked into the barriers. It`s a shame, any point scored today could have been vital for our standing position".
