It was a brilliant day for Olivier Pla, but his fellow Direxiv Motorsport drivers Clivio Piccione and Hiroki Yoshimoto had an event to forget in race two at Hockenhim. Pla (David Price Racing) was handed pole position following Ernesto Viso's late disqualification from race one, and he put this to perfect use to lead from start to finish for his second win of the year. Piccione (Durango) spun early on and battled his way to 17th, while Yoshimoto (BCN) was running strongly when his gearbox malfunctioned.
Olivier Pla, David Price Racing:
1st position: 39:54.758
"This was the perfect result and I'm really happy for the team and my sponsors. This was much easier than Silverstone and the car was excellent all race. I could see in my mirrors that I had a big lead and could afford to back off on the last three laps."
Clivio Piccione, Durango Racing Team:
17th position: 40:42.694
"I made a cautious start and this cost me a few places. Later on I was forced onto the kerbs as I tried to pass Hernandez, and this caused me to spin. I set the third fastest lap of the race, but that's all I could do."
Hiroki Yoshimoto, BCN Competicion:
"I don't know exactly what happened, but the car was stuck in fourth gear. We made some changes to the car overnight and it was much better so that makes me more optimistic for Hungary next weekend."
Misato Haga, President and CEO, Direxiv Motorsport:
"What a fantastic race win by Olivier, he dominated right from the start. It's his second consecutive victory and the third for Direxiv Motorsport this season. Unfortunately for Hiro and Clivio, they both drove well but were unable to score any points today."
