A busy period started today at the Nurburgring for the GP2 Main Series teams and drivers, who will line-up for four races in eight days. On the German racetrack, the championship entered round 6 of 2011 as the cars rolled off the pitlane for practice and qualifying. Trident Racing drivers Stefano Coletti and Rodolfo Gonzalez respectively ended up in 16th and 20th.
The main session of the day was held with dry weather conditions, and developed in a pretty uneventful way, with no red-flag interruptions.
The first race of the weekend, scheduled on a 34-lap distance, is set to kick-off tomorrow at 15:40, with live coverage in Italy on Rai Sport 1. Race 2 will start on Sunday at 10:30, and will be 24-lap long, with live coverage on RAI2.
Stefano Coletti, 16th (1’41”166)
“During my qualifying stints I suffered from an irregular car handling. With the first set of new tires I was suffering from an heavy understeer. Then with the second set it changed completely, and we moved to oversteer. It's a pity because we did really good in managing traffic situations out there, and I got several clean laps. I hope to fight back on tomorrow's race 1, as we'll face some variable weather conditions that I hope will help us in our comeback”.
Rodolfo Gonzalez, 20th (1’41”489)
“If we look at the laptimes we clocked today we can clearly see that our gap to the top-10 isn't too much, but we suffered from a difference of performance between the front and rear tires. We have to investigate the reason, because I think I couldn't have done more today”.
