With a solid performance on home soil, Trident Racing completed their weekend by finally rounding out the 2011 GP2 Main Series. Rookie racer Stépane Richelmi drove a consistent and flawless race to take the 14th spot, while Rodolfo Gonzalez ended up in 16th place.
As the 2011 GP2 Asia and Main Series have finally reached completion, Trident Racing will start preparing for the first post-season tests scheduled at Jerez and Barcelona. Teams and drivers will be back on-track for a non-points event next November at Abu Dhabi.
Stéphane Richelmi (14th)
“My rear tires spun a little more than they should at the start, and also due to the melee at Prima Variante I lost some more spots. Then I set up a good pace, as I passed Cocotto and caught the tails of Van der Garde, but made a slight mistake, and while I lost one spot I thought that my rear tires were wearing out a little too fast. So I stayed cool for a couple of laps, and I went back pushing as I could in the closing stages reaching the pack I had in front easily. I'm quite satisfied with my GP2 Series debut this weekend at Monza. It was something really new to me and it's been a great way to kickstart my way into the championship".
Rodolfo Gonzalez (16th)
“I don't have much to say about today's race. When you start at the back it's really tough to aim at a top-10 spot. I drove a pretty linear race with no mistakes and no surprises as well."
