Double retirement at Nurburgring
Stefano Coletti had a not very easy weekend at Nurburgring (Germany) in occasion of the sixth round of the GP2 Main Series 2011.
A troubled qualifying relegated him to the fifteenth position on the grid (1'41"166) on Saturday, while in the Feature Race the young Monegasque defended himself strongly despite a drive-through penalty commissioned due to an unsafe release during the mandatory pit-stop. In lap twenty-eight he was afterwards forced to an early retirement and consequently to a start race two from the back of the grid.
The Sprint Race was started on rain tyres and did not have a more lucky outcome either. Despite a remarkable start allowing Coletti to recover several positions, the gamble of switching early to slick tyres, when the circuit was slowly starting to dry up, did not pay off as his Dallara became very difficult to handle and caused Stefano an off-track excursion that put the word end to his race during lap six.
The GP2 Main Series will be back on track next weekend in Budapest (Hungary).
