Valencia Street Circuit
Strong return to the track for DAMS and Romain Grosjean as they ended qualifying on second row.
Romain already showed excellent pace during practice, as he spent most of the session on top of the sheet. But a red flag came out and then he was quite stuck in the traffic so he couldn't post a better lap.
Very positive Saturday for the team.
However, the French driver was on top early in qualifying as his first flying lap gave him P2. Another red flag occurred and once again he was slowed down in the traffic at the restart. So an other driver piped him and Romain ended third in the final classification.
Nice surprise too from Pal Varhaug who enter top 15 and improves his pace in qualifying.
Loïc David, general manager: « Very positive Saturday for the team. We had some good set up ideas and Romain showed a strong pace. That boosts our moral. Congratulations too to Pal who improves in qualifying. Looking ahead for tomorrow, we should be very careful with the conditions as the air and ground temperature should be much higher than today. »
Romain Grosjean : P3, 1.46.771
« I am satisfied with the pace we showed today. Just a bit frustrated as I feel that I could get the pole position. I am at least two tenths slowed down in the traffic in my flying lap. When you see that I am less than one tenth off the pole, finally, you can think of that. Anyway, we are ready for a strong race! »
Pal Varhaug : P14, 1.47.802
« Not too bad. For the first time, I am in the top 15. But I know that I can do a lot more. Tomorrow, I wish I can gain some places in the race. »
