Fabio Leimer will drive for Racing Engineering in the 2012 GP2 Series

After very positive post-season test days in Jerez and Barcelona, which saw Fabio setting the fastest lap times and a sensational race weekend in Abu Dhabi, where Fabio grabbed pole position and the feature race win, it was a logic step to continue this successful combination between the young Swiss driver and the Spanish team from Sanlucar de Barrameda.
The 22 years old Swiss driver is one of the fastest and most experienced drivers to enter the 2012 GP2 series. A proven race winner, Fabio will start his first season as Racing Engineering driver with the target of being one of the main contenders for the championship that this year kicks off at Sepang, in Malaysia, the next 24th of March.

Fabio Leimer:
"I am extremely happy I could sign an agreement with the Spanish Racing Engineering team and to participate with them in the 2012 GP2 Series. I felt already very comfortable with the team during the first tests. During these tests in Jerez and Barcelona, but also the races in Abu Dhabi we were very competitive, and if we work like this during the 2012 season, then I am convinced we will be quite high up in the final standings of the championship. I am really looking forward to working with Racing Engineering and am thankful to the team for believing in me and that they will always provide me with the best possible car."
