The New Zealander first entered the Formula 1-supporting category in 2013 hot on the heels of sealing the GP3 title the previous year, finishing 14th overall for Arden.

He switched to the Russian Time outfit for the next two seasons, finishing fourth and fifth in the points respectively and clinching a total of four race victories across the two campaigns.

Evans took a fifth and final GP2 win this year for Campos in the wet in Austria, the highlight of an otherwise disappointing season.

Having already secured a Jaguar Formula E drive earlier in the year, Evans has now confirmed that the 2016 season will be his last in GP2.

"It's been an extremely tough four years that have tested my limits on and off track," said Evans in a statement on his Facebook page.

"Even though I didn't achieve my goal of becoming champion, I'm incredibly proud of what I've achieved in this championship.

"I want to thank everyone that has supported and believed in me while we pursued the Formula 1 dream. I'll now focus on my professional career in Formula E, which I'm really looking forward to."

Evans currently lies 20th and last in the Formula E points, having retired from his series debut in Hong Kong and finishing 17th in Marrakesh.
