Another tough-luck day for Trident Racing

The first race of the GP2 weekend was conditioned by an accident happened right after the start; Trident Racing drivers Pastor Maldonado and Kohei Hirate were not involved, and profited from the subsequent full-course yellow to improve their running positions. Unfortunately, the great show put on by the Venezuelan driver ended prematurely with an engine failure on lap 11. Young Japanese Hirate was also on the move for a positive day ending, but lost ground during the round of yellow-flag pit-stops, and was forced to make an unscheduled second stop later in the race.

Maurizio Salvadori - Team Owner
"The continuous sequence of unfortunate events that are plaguing our season didn`t stop yet. Today Pastor Maldonado wasn`t able, due to an engine problem, to enter the top positions. That goal, especially looking at the initial race happenings, was clearly at close range. It`s frustrating to not have the chance to narrow down such great drivers and technical potential due to something that doesn`t depend on the team. I hope that Trident Racing, Pastor and Kohei, will be able to show their full capabilities as soon as possible, and I`m looking forward to tomorrow`s race".
