HO-PIN TUNG OUT OF THE RACE DUE TO A COMPETITORS AMBITIOUS OVERTAKING MANOEUVRE

Ho-Pin Tung (24) will leave Spain, which was the venue for round 3 and 4 of the GP2 series with mixed feelings. During the second race on the sunday he had to give up in the pits because his rear wheel suspension was damaged due to a do or die overtaking manoeuvre made by Pastor Maldonado. "He tried to overtake me at a point on the racetrack where it is impossible to overtake. There is hardly any space for one car, let alone space for two cars,' relates a disappointed and angry Ho-Pin. The damage on the left rear wheel suspension arm was too much to continue racing and all he could do was step out of the car in the pit. At the moment of impact when he had to quit another race due to another competitors action he was racing in 14th spot and was preparing himself to gain the lost places at the start .

Looking back at the first race on the saturday Ho-Pin is satisfied: "The first race went well, I drove the same laptimes as my teammate who is my best comparison. We have to gain more speed, I am sure the car can improve.' Ho-Pin and his crew made various car setup changes during the weekend to make him more comfortable and have better car control. As eager as he is: "I can't wait for the next race in Monaco."
