A fantastic start and the second podium of the weekend
Sunday, 14 May 2006 - I had to start from eighth after I won yesterday's first race, but it was not a big problem. I had a great start and ended up finishing third taking my second podium of the weekend. It was an almost perfect result and I'm happy to score 14 points this weekend. It's enough to get me into third place in the championship with 27 points, 12 points away from the leader and 10 points difference with my team-mate.
The start was quite exciting but I had to be careful to avoid Alexandre Negrao who stalled on the grid. It was a 26-lap race and I ended up following Nelson Piquet Jr for most of the afternoon but unable to pass him. Ernesto Viso ended up winning. Behind me was my team mate, Lewis Hamilton in fourth and he was pushing hard and got quite close to me in the closing stages, but I responded with some quick laps, didn't make a mistake and led him home.
I came here aiming to finish on the podium and I did in both races, winning the first one. The podium today moves me into third place in the championship and I'm now really in the hunt for the championship it's going to be a fight between me, my team mate and Nelson Piquet Jr. After the difficult start to the season it was great to get this boost.
I head to the next race in Monaco feeling optimistic. I love street circuits and have won at similar venues like Norisring, Pau and Macao. Winning at Monaco would complete the set for me. It will be difficult to overtake there so getting a good position in qualifying will be vital.
