Adam Carroll took today the attention by winning the third round of the GP2 series disputed in the strret circuit of Monte Carlo in a very close finish with Gianmaria Bruni and Nico Rosberg by just 1.1sec in the chequered flag.

The British driver did what he need to do to achieve an historical victory in the first ever visit of GP2 to Monaco. "I can't complain about that one! To be the first GP2 series winner in Monaco means a lot, and I'm really happy. You don't realise until you get here just how tough this circuit actually is", commented the winner.

Carroll had started from third place the competition and stayed in that place until the moment to make the pit stop arrived. Pole sitter, Heikki Kovalainen comfortably hold the lead until his stop on lap 21 when problems with his left front wheel nut slowed him down to 10th place a one lap behind the new leader Bruni.

Carroll catched the first place after Bruni made his stop on lap 31st. of the race. From that point, the short distance between top three had was product a thilling battle for the win in Moncaco. "Last ten laps were like genuine torture but the team did a great job today. Gimmi was quick but I thought I could get him. I pushed really hard even though I bent the steering after I kissed the wall at the swimming pool". Stated Crarroll.

The Super Nova driver became in the first to repeat victory in the series after the one took in the season opener weekend at San Marino.

Second finisher Bruni was one more time in the argued for the important places since the activity started on Friday. However, the Italian couldn't copy his success of two weeks ago in Spain. "The win was there but we lost time in the pitstop unfortunately and I lost time on my in and out laps", was the reason of Bruni for his final result.

Despite Bruni lost the lead in the pits, he didn't gave up and continued pushing hard on Carroll's position. "When I came out I was five seconds behind Adam and for the final laps I was pushing very hard. I was catching him and just hoped he'd make a mistake but he didn't. I was faster than him but there wasn't room to pass", he said.

However, Bruni added an important podium thinking in the championship aim of the former F1 driver.

ART Grand Prix driver took his first top three position in the category. Rosberg had in Monaco his best perfonmance of the season so far. The 19 years old driver started on seventh place and managed to reach the podium position and fight for the victory in the end of the race.

Scott Speed, Kovalainen, Mathias Lauda, Can Artam and Sergio Hernandez completed the points positions. Only five cars could finish in the leader lap and just nine machines saw the chequered flag after 44 hard laps around Monte Carlo.

After five races, Kovalainen keep leading the standings with 28 points near followed by Bruni, 26; Speed, 25; Carroll, 23 and Jose Maria Lopez with 18 in top five places.

Arden International holds the lead between the teams with 32 units with Coloni Motorsport, 29 and iSport International 27.

On one week will continue the GP2 shedule at Nurburgring for another double round of the series.
