The 26-year-old, who raced for Trident in 2014, will also race at Barcelona and Monaco for the Dutch outfit alongside Daniel de Jong.
Canamasas, who tested for Hilmer Motorsport over the winter as well as for MP, said in an official release: "I would like to have concluded the agreement earlier, but everything it was a bit too hasty and it wasn't [finalised] until now.
"Anyway, I'm a seasoned driver in the GP2 Series, and I don't think we will have problems to be competitive, as I proved in testing."
The Spaniard added that there remains the possibility of contesting further rounds for the team if all goes well, saying: "After Monaco, we will certainly put our heads together, drawing conclusions about our first part of the season working together.
"Then we will decide to extend the contract or not."
