JOHNNY CECOTTO AND JOSEF KRAL REALLY MOTIVATED FOR HUNGARORING.

The last third of the season in the GP2 Series gets under way this weekend at the Hungaroring circuit, before the mini summer break. Barwa Addax Team get to Hungary after a very positive weekend in Germany, where they showed they were competitive, after winning the longer race in Hockenheim. Both drivers, Johnny Cecotto and Josef Král, are motivated and confident in the team and the set up needed this weekend to guarantee good results.

Johnny Cecotto is really looking forward to having another good weekend and thereby continue with his spectacular progress in the championship table. He has been the driver with most points won since the Monaco Grand Prix. Two long race wins followed up by a second place finish, confirms that he should be up there fighting it out with the leading drivers in the championship and will be out to do everything he can to get to the top.

Josef Král, is hoping above all to get rid of all the bad luck that has affected him since the start of the season, as he is still waiting to score points in this season’s championship. We only have to go back to the last race, when he was fighting it out for the points during the whole stint, until he was shunted with just a few laps remaining and other drivers overtook him, despite the yellow flags that were out, leaving him in a position he did not deserve.

Barwa Addax Team come into this event at Hungaroring in a positive frame of mind following the good results in recent races and with the experience that success has brought them in recent years. Nevertheless, it will not be an easy task given the characteristics of the circuit which is considered “the permanent street circuit” due it its succession of slow corners. Another challenge will the strategy the Spanish team adopts during the whole weekend. Having got it right in Germany, they will be under the watchful eye of all their rivals. The one big difference will be the weather conditions. Unlike recent Grand Prix, the weather here is expected to be very hot, which will allow the teams to test all the tyre combinations at their disposition, with the different compounds, for the very first time.

The timetable will be the same as most Grand Prix in Europe. Friday 27th, 11.55 – 12.25 Free Practice. 16.00 – 16.30, Qualification. Saturday 28th, the first race gets under way at 15.40 and will be competed over 37 laps of the Hungaroring circuit covering a distance of 162.057 kms. Sunday 27th, drivers will compete over 28 laps of 4.381 Km circuit at 10.35 local time.

Johnny Cecotto, official Barwa Addax Team driver: “We had only a few days to prepare the race in Hungary as last weekend we had that fantastic weekend in Hockenheim. I'm ready and the team is too, this is a track where Addax has always been quick especially when the temperatures are hot and I'm sure this will be the case again this time.”

Josef Kràl, official Barwa Addax team driver: “Hungaroring is very difficult track. It is very bumpy and except few times there is always very warm weather but I am looking for this race. it is quite narrow and short so it will be all about the qualifying because then it is very difficult to overtake. I won there a race when I was in Formula Master so I hope this experience will help me as well”.
