BALDISSERRI & JENSEN PARTNER TO BRING TALENTED AMERICAN DRIVER INTO 2007 GP2 SERIES
Long-time friends Luca Baldisserri and Eric Jensen are teaming up to represent talented young American driver Jonathan Summerton in his quest to move up to the GP2 series in 2007.
Summerton (18) hails from Orlando Florida, and is currently driving in the F3 EuroSeries. Summerton is currently 10th in points, with a best finish of 4th at Lausitz Germany. Jonathan was also the top rookie in qualifying at the most recent race, starting 6th Oschersleben Germany.
Despite his young age, Summerton already has an impressive resume, including winning both Formula BMW USA races at the 2004 United States Grand Prix. Summerton finished an eventual 3rd overall in the 2004 Formula BMW USA championship. In 2005, Summerton drove in the German Formula BMW championship.
Summerton will now enjoy mentorship and representation from two vastly experienced racing professionals: Luca Baldisserri and Eric Jensen.
Luca Baldisserri is the Chief Race Engineer of the Ferrari Formula One team. Luca has been a senior team member responsible for engineering and strategy throughout Michael Schumacher's 5 year run as F1 World Champion. Given his role at Ferrari, Luca is active in the F1 racing community and will help introduce Summerton to the many key personalities involved in the GP2 paddock.
Eric Jensen owns the North American based Jensen MotorSport team. In 2007, Jensen has teams competiting in the ChampCar Atlantic and Formula BMW USA championships. Jensen has known the Summerton's well including multiple tests with the team over the past few years.
Summerton is currently in Monaco, where Baldisserri and Jensen will be introducing him about the GP2 paddock this weekend.
