Unfortunate end for Trident Racing's first race of 2007

The inaugural GP2 series race of the 2007 season wasn`t really a lucky one for Trident Racing. oth drivers, Kohei Hirate and Pastor Maldonado, saw their chances to shine end before the start of the ace, as overheating problem froze their cars on the grid. The stewards pushed both cars back to the pits and, while Hirate was still able to take off 1 lap down, Maldonado was stopped by the high emperatures reached on his engine. With today`s results, Kohei will start Race 2 in 18th place, while Pastor will be forced to start back in 23rd.

Maurizio Salvadori, Team Owner
"I`m happy with the the performances Hirate shown us during Race 1. Of course, the final result as heavily conditioned by the troubles we experienced at the start, but Kohei lapped consistently on the same times of the leaders. This confirms us that the conclusions we reached during the winter were true, and without unfortunate episodes like today`s one, we`ve a concrete possibility to make it to the top starting from next race".

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Team Principal
"The problems we had on both cars at the start were mainly due to overheating. The water temperature went extremely high, and at that levels the anti-stall engine protection system starts automatically. It`s a pity, because we were so confident, and the times set by Kohei during the race shown we could easily fight for a top spot".
