Waiting for the first Gp2 Asia race wee-end
The GP2 Asia Series pre-season testing was completed yesterday at the Abu Dhabi racetrack, just days before the first race of the 2011 Championship, scheduled for this weekend.
After four days full of work, the two cars fielded by Trident Racing logged around 2000 kilometers without experiencing a single mechanical issue. The initial development stages have gone past smoothly, as the new car progressed thanks to the job done by the technical department of Trident Racing, as well as by drivers Stefano Coletti and Rodolfo Gonzalez.
The team's two racers had an huge amount of work to deal with, as they shared testing duties over the technical solutions proposed by the engineers. They were able to collect a solid feedback to take advantage of, ahead of planning the initial car set-up for the first race.
In the first two days of testing, the team's effort was directed towards pure performance, while on Day 4 everybody focused on race condition, completing part-race and pit-stop simulations.
Maurizio Salvadori: "First of all, I want to congratulate the GP2 Series and their partners for being able to provide a very reliable car since the first laps. Regarding Trident Racing, I'm glad to have observed that we have a really consistent working group which includes the engineers, all the other staff and the two drivers, Rodolfo and Stefano. They proved extremely fast, determined, and willing to co-operate in order to achieve some important goals in the future".
During the last day of testing, nobody could forget of Robert Kubica. The accident he suffered shocked and concerned the whole team. Trident Racing wish him good luck and a speedy recovery.
