Fisichella Motor Sport embark on second GP2 Asia season
Fisichella Motor Sport International's GP2 team will be back in action this weekend as the second GP2 Asia championship kicks off at the Shanghai International Circuit in China, as a support to the penultimate round of the Formula 1 World Championship.
Driving for FMSI in the 2008/09 GP2 Asia campaign will be Andreas Zuber and Kevin Nai Chia Chen.
Andreas Zuber has just turned 25 years old and has enjoyed three seasons in the main GP2 Series. Born in Austria, although holding a United Arab Emirates race license, Zuber drove for Trident Racing in 2006, securing a race win in Turkey, and moved to iSport for 2007, taking the win at Silverstone. He drove for the Piquet Sports team in 2008 and finished ninth in the championship for a second consecutive year. As well as his two race wins, he has scored six other GP2 podiums and looks set to be a strong contender for FMS in this winter's GP2 Asia battle.
29-year-old Kevin Chen has the honour of being the first Taiwanese driver to be granted an FIA A license and this campaign will mark his GP2 debut. Chen has been racing since 2003 and, in that time, has seven race victories and 11 other podium finishes under his belt. He won the 03 and 04 SCCA Regional Touring championships and finished runner up in 05 in the SCCA National Show Room Stock B. He finished in third place in the 07 Formula V6 Asia race at Chengdu in China and scored two third places and a fourth place in this years Formula V6 Asia.
This winter's GP2 Asia championship will feature 12 races over six weekends. The series will commence this weekend in China before moving to Dubai in December. It will take in Bahrain in January, revisit Dubai in February and then move over to Malaysia in April. The season finale will take place in Bahrain on 19 April.
