With his motivation at the maximum after his brilliant performance in the two GP2 test sessions held recently at Paul Ricard and Montmelo, Javier Villa faces, from this Friday, the final part of his campaign in the Asian series of the F1 feeder series, which will allow him to complete his preparation before the beginning of the European competition.
Villa and the 25 competitors in the GP2 Asia series will share the track this weekend with the Formula cars 1 on Malaysia's Sepang circuit for the penultimate date of the GP2 winter series calendar, which will close at the end of April in Bahrain. The sharing with Formula 1 means the return to the normal weekend scheme for most GP2 events with the track activity beginning on Friday morning with the free and timed practice sessions, whilst the Feature Race will take place on Saturday midday local time (6AM CET time) and the Sprint Race will begin on Sunday at the 13.30 (7.30 CET time).
For Javier the two events left in the GP2 Asia series have especially to serve to keep up the high pace that he has acquired this winter thanks to his participation on the Asian tracks with Super Nova who will also be his team for the European season. Villa comes to Sepang classified eighth in the overall standings, with 12 points, and expects to increase his account with good results in the two races to be run on Sepang's demanding track, where as well as the difficulty of the circuit, the intense heat and the high humidity are two factors to bear in mind, not forgetting the high chance of rain forecast for the weekend that would make driving the Dallara GP2 car on the Malaysian track even more complicated.
