ABU DHABI, SCUDERIA COLONI TOPS THE SHEETS ON DAY 3
GP2 testing is underway in Abu Dhabi, and good news keep coming for Scuderia Coloni. The Italian team climbed at the top of the sheets today, on the third and penultimate test day at Yas Marina, thanks to the 1'36"467 posted by Michael Herck. The Romanian driver, who already showed a special feeling for this track in the recent sessions, clinched the fastest lap of the whole day, confirming that the team is headed in the right direction and that the learning process with the new car and tyres is going in the best possible way. The team's good feelings were also confirmed by the pace boasted by James Jakes: the brit entered the top ten with 1'37"022, ahead of Bird and Grosjean.
It's worth to notice that, unlike the previous days, today the GP2 pack was testing on a shorter configuration of the track (4.73 km), the same that will be used for the forthcoming GP2 Asia debut races. This means that today's good results are particularly important, even if the team is more focused on gathering data than on raw performance.
Scuderia Coloni will be back on track tomorrow for the last test day, and then the team will prepare itself for the 2011 race debut, set for February 11 again on the Yas Marina Circuit.
