Bakkerud's Bahrain race is cut short again

Starting from the back of the grid in today's sprint race after yesterday's unfortunate result, Christian Bakkerud got a good get away only to be caught up in the debris from a car in front while on the grass avoiding the iSport car of Karun Chandhok. This damaged the Dane's brake ducks which over heated his brakes and Bakkerud had to retire after only three laps.

Bakkerud comments on his unlucky 2008 so far - "It has again been one of those weekends that I seem to have had a lot of lately. Luck isn't on my side at the moment. I had a disastrous race yesterday despite being careful to avoid trouble so my strategy today was far more aggressive."

"I made a good start and managed to avoid Chandhok who spun in the first corner which caused a whole load of cars having to cross over the grass to avoid him. This wasn't a problem in itself but something came off one of the cars in front of me and this in turn hit my brake ducks which caused my brakes to overheat. I also damaged my front wing slightly while rejoining the track so after only three laps I unfortunately had to retire again. No brakes equals too dangerous to stay on track!"

"I have now got the final GP2 Asia race at Dubai Autodrome in a week's time so I hope to be able to turn things around and finish well and move on to the main series in a more positive way."
