PODIUM FINISH FOR ARDEN ROOKIE EDOARDO

Edoardo Mortara followed up his impressive qualifying performance in his debut GP2 Asia Race in Bahrain today by finishing in 3rd position. After an excellent start the Euro F3 graduate initially moved into 3rd position but dropped a place whilst lapping a back marker. After some superb pitwork by the Arden crew at the mandatory pit-stop Mortara jumped ahead of fellow rookie Nico Hulkenberg to claim his first GP2 podium. Luiz Ruiz after a strong start spent most of his race in different mid-field battles just missing out on a top 10 finish.

Edoardo: "I am really happy for my first podium in a GP2 race. I was a little concerned about the start & pit stop, but everything went really well. I had a good start and was surprised to come out 3rd after the pit stop, but that was good! My plan was to finish the race and not to make mistakes and the outcome was perfect. I finished the race and brought the car home successfully. For tomorrow, I hope for the same as today: finish the race, the result is not the priority. I want to say thank you to everyone at Arden for their hard work."

Luiz: "Starting at the back is a little difficult, but I tried to stay out of trouble in first corner and tried to be fast in first ten laps to do pit stop early. So then I am free to push until the end. Unfortunately, I had some under steer so I couldn't push as hard as I wanted, so just brought the car to the end of the race. We will make some improvements for tomorrows race and we will see what happens."
