Alvaro Parente returns in good shape

Alvaro Parente showed today at Sakhir why he is considered one of the great talents of today, having reached the fifth place in the grid of the first race of the GP2 Asia Bahrain event.

After five long months far from a racing car, the Portuguese young driver received an invitation from Coloni to take part in the third event of the GP2 Asia Championship, and he showed that the confidence that the team put in him was justified, as he reached the fifth place in the time monitors after fighting for pole-position with this year series main contenders, loosing just two tenths to Jules Biachi, the poleman.

After today's qualifying, Alvaro Parente, who beaten his teammate Will Brat was just twentieth, losing more than a second and a half to the Portuguese was very pleased with the outcome and with the car that was at his disposal. "I think that this is an excellent result, mainly if you consider that I didn't know the team and I didn't drive a singleseater for a long time. The car was well balanced, as we can see in the first sector, where I was the fastest", underlined the driver that last season won Spa-Francorchamps main race.

For tomorrow's race, the young gun from Oporto will start among the drivers that have been the strongest contenders of the season and, with the Coloni knowledge that is gathering, he hopes to achieve a result that his flair deserves. "The car has a good set-up, but I think that we can improve it a little, as we lost some time in the second sector. Moreover, our Dallara is a bit over the weight, but we will take care of it before tomorrow's race. I believe that we can see the chequered flag in the first places, as I'm getting more adapted to the team", said the driver supported by TMN, Stilo and Cision.

The first race of the Sakhir event will be held tomorrow at 10h00 (GMT), and it's expected that Alvaro Parente may show his true value.
