Plamen Kralev, 16th
The Abu Dhabi Yas Marina Circuit hosted the feature race of the second GP2 Asia Series round of this season. Trident Racing's Dani Clos, who took off from Row 8, experienced a tough start as he damaged his front wing in a T1 contact. The Spaniard came to an early pit-stop on lap 6, but was forced to retire after a contact with Will Bratt. Plamen Kralev reached his goal to reach the checkered flag in his first GP2 Asia Series race. The Bulgarian scored a positive 16th spot. In the final race of the weekend, starting tomorrow at 18:00 local time, Kralev will take off from Row 8, wile Clos will be called to come back from 21st. Eurosport will cover the race live, while Rai Sport Piu will broadcast it tape-delayed at 1.30 AM.
Dani Clos. "My start hasn't been great, and as I approached turn 1 I found myself in a cloud of sand. As I hit the brakes, the car in front of me braked harder, and we touched, damaging my front wing. During my pit-stop, I lost one spot to Will Bratt, but I tried to move back when I caught his slipstream again. He shut the door, and the contact damaged the front right suspension. It's a shame, because I lost the chance to improve my feeling with the car and track and I was really more suited by the car today than yesterday. I hope to leave my mark on tomorrow's race with a great comeback.
Plamen Kralev. "My goal was to end the race. I really wanted to get to the checkered flag and I'm satisfied with the race I eventually run. Conditions weren't easy, and we saw many crashes and mistakes as a consequence. I tried not to be an obstacle for everybody else, and that hit the overall performance. I feel I can improve a lot. I just need to drive for more kilometers, and pull the best out of the car."
