Luiz Razia

Arden driver Luiz Razia might not have scored any points during the penultimate GP2 weekend of the season at Monza, Italy, but a fortnight from now he’ll be competing for the championship title in Singapore.
The Brazilian was given a five-position grid penalty before the start, for his part in a collision with Fabio Leimer during yesterday’s race, but was destined to start towards the back anyway following his early retirement. From 25th, he picked his way steadily up the order to finish 16th.
With closest rival Davide Valsecchi winning today for DAMS, however, Razia is 25 points adrift. He knows he’ll need two strong results at the Marina Bay street circuit... and then to hope other results go his way.
Team-mate Simon Trummer spent much of today’s race in Razia’s company. After losing a couple of positions during the opening lap, the Swiss finished 17th, 4.9s behind the Brazilian.
Luiz Razia comments: “This has not been an easy weekend and I didn’t foresee that the championship situation would become so difficult. It is what it is, though, and I have to move on and put a bad weekend behind me. It’s time to forget about Monza and concentrate on Singapore. The title battle isn’t yet over and I will give it my best shot – as I have done throughout the season.”
Simon Trummer comments: “Like Luiz, I have had a weekend that will not live long in the memory. I did my best this morning but simply wasn’t able to make much progress, I am now focusing on the forthcoming race in Singapore, a new track for me and I suspect for most other GP2 drivers, too. Unfamiliarity creates a more level playing field and I hope that will give me an opportunity to end the season on a high note.”
