Luiz Razia maintained his 100 per cent seasonal scoring record with another polished drive for Arden in this morning’s GP2 sprint race at the Sakhir International Circuit, Bahrain. Starting seventh after his strong run to second place yesterday, the Brazilian blended patience with calm as he capitalised on the opportunities that came his way. His approach paid dividends and he eventually picked his way through to fourth.

It was also a solid race for team-mate Simon Trummer. Starting 16th, the Swiss drove solidly and consistently en route to eighth, netting his first GP2 championship point in the process.

Luiz Razia comments:

“It was a good result, but a difficult race. We’ve improved the sprint race set-up since Malaysia, but clearly we still have some work to do to narrow the gap to DAMS. The tyres are incredibly sensitive and tiny set-up alterations can make a difference of a few seconds over a race distance. Overall, though, this has been another encouraging weekend, I tried to look after the tyres as much as I could and the car felt pretty strong until the final 10 laps or so. By then, most other drivers had lost traction, too, so comparatively speaking I was in good shape. This gives us a very solid platform on which to build next weekend.”

Simon Trummer comments:

“I knew I had the pace to overtake some of the cars ahead, so I faced a tricky balancing act – trying to pass rivals while at the same time conserving my tyres. I began to lose grip during the second part of the race, but drivers around me were having a harder time still and that enabled me to continue making progress. I’m really pleased to have scored my first GP2 points and looking forward to racing here again next weekend. I’ll be absolutely flat out!”
