Antonio Felix da Costa to test with Ocean Racing Technology
Portuguese team testing five new drivers at the Paul Ricard
Ocean Racing Technology has invited Portuguese driver, Antonio Felix da Costa, to take part in the upcoming test at the Paul Ricard Circuit on November 10. GP2's Portuguese team is planning to continue the three day testing session that was carried out at the Jerez circuit in Southern Spain, where they began working on the evolution of their single-seaters and on the selection of their new drivers before the beginning of the 2010 Main Series.
In addition to Antonio Felix da Costa, Ocean Racing Technology will utilize the services of Charles Pic, Christian Vietoris, Nelson Panciatici, as well as a fifth driver whose identity will be revealed shortly.
Tiago Monteiro has justified the latest choice, made jointly with Jose Guedes, to test one of the most talented Portuguese drivers of the moment. "We've been following Antonio's career for some time now and he is certainly a driver that we would like to integrate into Ocean Racing Technology as he fits right in there with the profile we are aiming for.
However, the GP2 Series car is very different to the one he was driving this year and this invitation will allow him to have his first experience of the GP2 Series as well as of our team. It will help us to see how he comes to grips with the car and the team. We will also test other drivers. At the end of the process, we will be able to draw conclusions regarding what the best options for the team could be. We already said that we would like to race with a Portuguese driver and therefore the Paul Ricard session as well as the GP2 Asia Series will be decisive for our driver selection."
The preparatory off season work began on October 6 at Jerez. On this occasion, Ocean Racing Technology tested the performances of Fabio Leimer, Joseph Kral, Philip Eng and Rodolfo Gonzalez. Tiago Monteiro and Jose Guedes have adopted a defined strategy that is aimed at making Ocean Racing Technology even more competitive after their rookie season that saw them surprise many with their speed and adaptation which ended in them recording their first victory, three podiums and 40 points.
Before the test at Paul Ricard, Ocean Racing Technology will head to Abu Dhabi in order to prepare for the start of the GP2 Asia Series, which will open its doors the following week on the same circuit.
