A weak first weekend of the season for Trident Racing in Malaysia
Ceccon was forced to take-off from the pits one lap down.
Trident Racing rounded out the first weekend of the GP2 Series at Sepang today by scoring 21st place with Nathanael Berthon and 22nd place with Kevin Ceccon.
Ceccon had a tough start as his engine stalled and he was forced to take-off from the pits, one lap down. The Italian racer managed to complete the full distance on great laptimes, matching the pace of the series' frontrunners.Berthon made a mid-race pit-stop, replacing the hard tires with some softer compound. The choice was made together with the engineers in order to collect valuable data with that tire compound and be prepared for the upcoming races.
As the opening weekend of the season is now complete, Trident Racing is ready to line-up at Al Sakhir in Barhain, for the next round of the 2013 GP2 Series from April 19 to 21.
Kevin Ceccon: “With just a few seconds before the start I pushed the clutch button and the engine stalled. The stewards had to bring me back to the pit-lane and I took-off the race one lap down.
At that point, I pushed as hard as I could and the laptimes at least proved extremely quick. In terms future expectations, it's been good news but If I think to the potential we showed, that just increases the disappointment.”
Nathanael Berthon: “When you take-off from the 22nd place on the grid there's not too much to do to score a great result. After having been on-track with harder tires, I decided to come back to the pits and put softs on.
The goal was to collect data in order to analyze it for the following races”.
