The pair of Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli races held over the weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, a part of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, saw Chris Ruud (in photo) add to his tally of victories for the season as the Scuderia Corsa team took home three trophies.

In the first race of the weekend, held Saturday afternoon, Chris Ruud was victorious in the Coppa Shell category and followed up that result with a third place in Sunday morning's race. In fact, Ruud led the second race before spinning and falling down the order. His victory on Saturday was his fifth in the Coppa Shell category this year, and firmly establishes his championship lead.

"With perfect weather and a fantastic crowd watching the races, I was able to run a clean race to first on Saturday," said Ruud. "And despite a spin during Sunday's race I am pleased to be able to come home with a third-place trophy as well. My car was running well and my team mate Jon Becker fought his way up the field to a strong second place."

Jon Becker encountered several challenges during the weekend in Montreal, including mechanical issues and contact, but fought his way to a fifth place in Saturday's race. With his fortunes improved for Sunday, Becker contested for the lead but ultimately finished in second position.

"This was a very challenging weekend where we had several technical issues with the car during practice," said Becker. "As a result we had very little time to practice and had to get up to speed in qualifying. Despite that, in race one I was battling my friend Robert Herjavec for the final podium spot. Unfortunately, a driver from a different class ran into me and spun me out which dropped us down to fifth at the finish. In the second race there were a bunch of battles and crashes but somehow we ended up in second after resuming our battle with Robert who managed to hold off our late attack. All in all we got good points and put more distance between us and the guys below us in the championship. Congratulations to my team mate and friend Chris Ruud who went P1 in race one and P3 in race two!"

Scuderia Corsa technical director Roberto Amorosi was happy with the results of his two drivers in the Coppa Shell category in Montreal.

"We had a challenging weekend in Montreal with the little time on track," said Amorosi. "But I would like to thank the team for the great efforts in staying up on Saturday night to replace an engine and do many other repairs. I am pleased with the results in Coppa Shell, with Chris scoring his fifth win of the season in race one while his and Jon's podium in race two keep the chase for the Coppa Shell championship on."

The next round of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will be June 27-29 at Circuit Mont Tremblant in Mont Tremblant, Quebec.
