Gregory Romanelli will start the opening Ferrari Challenge race of the Finali Mondiali weekend at Mugello from pole position after edging out Emmanuel Annasis in qualifying.
Ferrari Challenge North America regular Romanelli, who also topped Friday’s Coppa Shell/North America practice session, set his best time of 1m53.184s with five minutes remaining of the half-hour session.
That was enough to beat fellow North America competitor Anassis, who missed out on the top spot by just 0.097s.
Setting identical times in third and fourth places were North American Trofeo Pirelli Am drivers Anthony Imperato and Ross Garber, both 1.070s off the pace, with early pacesetter James Wieland making up the top five just a further six thousandths behind.
India’s Gautam Singhania was best of the European Coppa Shell drivers in seventh, while North American Coppa Shell honours fell to Al Delattre.
