Ludwig’s only threat to his lead came at the first corner on the opening lap, when front row starter and Saturday race winner Wei Lu attempted yet another outside the corner pass.

The two made the slightest of touches through the following corner of Luco before Ludwig edged ahead.

Ludwig consistently lapped faster to pull clear of Lu, and his rival’s race was made easier when the third-placed Scuderia Corsa Ferrari of Martin Fuentes was given a drive-through penalty for jumping the rolling race start.

When he took the penalty, it released IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship driver Cooper MacNeil, who harried Lu at the midway point.

A slight error through the Scarperia and Palagio chicane allowed MacNeil to close in on Lu's Ferrari of Vancouver car, but MacNeil continued to struggle with a car off-balance after his crash earlier in the day. Lu then easily held off MacNeil to take runner-up.

Fourth went the way of Coppa Shell class champion Karl Williams ahead of fellow title winner Marc Muzzo, who sealed the Trofeo Pirelli amateur class crown on Saturday.

Fuentes was sixth after recovering from his drivethrough penalty, holding off Christopher Cagnazzi, Brent Holden and Frank Selldorff.

Famous actor Michael Fassbender again retired, this time after he was hit from behind by Osvaldo Gaio through the right-hander of Casanova.

The accident also claimed Murray Rothlander, who spun into the gravel and did not finish.

Fassbender would crawl back to the pits and retire, later remonstrating with Gaio after he stopped his car shortly after taking the penalty.
