Daytona Ferrari World Finals: Loefflad wins Coppa Shell world title
Thomas Loefflad won the Ferrari World Final in Coppa Shell at Daytona, securing the title in the winner-takes-all race under caution.
The German had taken the lead early on from polesitter Matt Keegan, but had to relinquish it to Vladimir Hladik.
The Czech driver then made a mistake, which handed the lead back to Loefflad.
The race ended under caution when Holger Harmsen suffered a left-rear tire failure just two minutes from the end. Although he didn’t hit anything, the resulting high-speed spin on the frontstretch brought out the yellow.
So Hladik had to settle for second behind Loefflad, as Rick Lovat completed the podium.
Rob Hodes and Fons Scheltema rounded out the top five. Polesitter Matt Keegan who had led early on, finished down the order after contact with another car.
