Team KMA - Atlantic Racing Team announces 2008 Formula BMW USA participation and first Driver signing.
With today's signing of their first 2008 Formula BMW USA driver from South America, Team KMA announced also their continuous support and participation in the 2008 Formula BMW USA Racing Series. Atlantic Racing Team had been a proud supporter of the series since the inception in 2004 and merged with American Spirit in 2007 to form Team KMA Racing.
"We are really delighted announcing today having been elected by the driver's manager as well as our continuous support for the FBMW USA Racing Series in 2008" says Ingo Strackerjan, Manager for Team KMA. "After a not so Stellar performance in 2007, leaving us with only one 2nd and some other finishes within the top ten and many sizable crashes, we were concerned that this would affect our next year in FBMW and yes, we considered another series for 2008. As part of a team ownership it is very hard for my partners and the crew to face the reality of not being on top of the winning chart but there is really no other way but to look forward. With our newest driver we are already preparing the team and the driver for the 2008 racing season. We do anticipate to sign two more drivers within a short time. Once we have all of them here, we will start testing in Canada and then follow the warmer weather."
"The cars will have brand new team colors in 2008, utilizing fully the sponsor's logo" says Ingo, and when asked about the name of the driver and the 2008 team sponsor, he replied "We promised to wait for the announcement with a name of our driver until he has finished his present driving in another racing series."
"As everyone knows, the legendary Rocker Sammy Hagar and his Tequila/Cantina brand name CABO WABO has been a sponsor of Team KMA's FBMW and INDY PRO SERIES Team in 2007, which we hope to continue on 2008," continued Strackerjan, "with his milestone birthday coming up in October we were hoping to present him with more success then what we had so far. But as we proudly wore the Cabo Wabo name on the cars and the team uniforms, we not only able to promote the brand effectively, but also were able to attract other corporate clients and potential sponsors, Many are discussing at this time our proposals and ways to cross promote their products. The restrictions of advertisements within the FBMW Series (Alcohol, Tobacco, Lifestyle to name a few) severely curtailed us of what we can offer as a "billboard" and "representatives" for their brand. Jon Lewis, my partner in the Team KMA venture and being the driving force behind our team sponsorship drive and our IPS venue, is now working on a team sponsorship program which hopefully will allow us to invite new, young talented drivers for a 3 day test program with us, regardless of financial status. This is naturally kind of a dream but then, as we always say - first there has to be a dream and then there will be success in racing," Ingo concluded.
