Red Bull's Matt Jaskol to Europe and back in next two weeks
Matt Jaskol, one of three American drivers selected for the Red Bull Driver Search at the end of the last year left this week to Europe, to continue his quest to become one of the top American drivers in the world motorsports arena.
Las Vegan Jaskol received a Red Bull invitation for a two-day test driving a Formula 3 car from the prestigious British entrant Alan Docking. The test takes place on the legendary Estoril track in Portugal, using a format similar to what Jaskol performed during his 2003 Red Bull Driver Search test at the track.
"I am very excited to return to Estoril, a track which suited me well, and to drive the Formula 3 car again," Jaskol stated. "This will be a great opportunity for me, and I hope to be able to showcase my work ethic and potential, hopefully assisting Red Bull in deciding where and if to place me in 2005."
Before heading to Portugal, Matt will spend two days at the Red Bull HQ training facility at Fuschl am See, in Austria. He has been there before: "It will be great to drop by and touch base with all the crew at Red Bull in Austria. Since I raced in North America this year, I look forward to seeing them again and updating them, eye-to-eye, on my season".
After testing at Estoril, Matt will celebrate his 20th birthday on October 15th en route to Texas Motor Speedway, where he will help Greg Ray's Access Motorsports team by spotting during the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series season finale: "On my b-day, I will touch two continents, two countries and three different states before getting to the track. It will be fun".
Jaskol has remained active since the end of the Formula BMW USA season, maintaining his strict physical training schedule and racing his go-karts. He is coming out off two wins in regional races in his hometown of Las Vegas, and over the Halloween weekend, Jaskol teams with Patrick Long to attack the SuperKarts USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals, also in Vegas.
