Kevin Lacroix: "Mid-Ohio on my mind"
BMW series leader after two rounds
St-Eustache, Quebec, May 17th. -- After a very convincing start in Laguna Seca where he earned two podiums and his first-ever victory in open-wheel racing, Kevin Lacroix has his mind set on the second weekend of what looks to be the start of a very promising career. Formula BMW USA heads for Mid-Ohio where the second double header of the season will take place. The 16 year-old French Canadian knows every outing promises to be highly competitive: he will have to face new race venues and try to make the best out of his car and the tracks. Something he has done on numerous occasions in USA and Europe in his kart days.
"Mid-Ohio is another one of those fabulous racing venues I've been admiring for many years, admits Lacroix, without thinking I'd race there one day. Me and my crew at AIM Motorsport have talked about it so I could get ready mentally. I don't think it is as impressive as Laguna but on the other hand it doesn't forgive any mistake: competitors, and there are 20 out there, will take advantage immediately. I will have to concentrate and work out every detail with Keith Wyllis, my engineer. My goal is to come out of Mid-Ohio on top of the standings before we come to Montreal, my hometown, and circuit Gilles-Villeneuve."
On the track Friday morning
Lacroix will take his #22 Uni-Select race car to the track Friday morning for two 30-minute practice sessions at 10:15 and 12:10. "This is almost where you make or break, adds Lacroix. You have to get the best of the track and then go to work with your crew to set up the car to your findings. This is where teamwork is the only attitude."
First qualifying session will take place in the afternoon (3:00) while second session will be on Saturday morning (10:45). In the afternoon the first race will start at 3:45 and the weekend will conclude with the second race on Sunday at 10:30 AM.
