DANIEL MORAD SET TO CONTEND '06 FORMULA BMW USA CHAMPIONSHIP
"Rising star teams with experienced Aim Autosport squad"
Markham, Ontario -- March 23, 2006 -- Multi-time karting champion and current FirstKart.com driver Daniel Morad is set to contend in the 2006 Formula BMW USA Championship. The 15-year-old talent will compete in the fourteen race series with the AIM Autosport squad, who in the past claimed Rookie-of-the-Year honors with driver James Hinchcliffe.
Morad has already been in the seat of his new ride as the rising star completed two test sessions with AIM Autosport early in the year. Morad was on pace quickly and will be a threat for the Rookie-of-the-Year award as well as the overall series championship.
"I am extremely pleased to have this opportunity," explained Morad in a recent phone interview. "I can't wait to get back in the car and begin testing for this season. I have followed the Formula BMW USA championship closely over the past couple of seasons and knew that this is the direction that I wanted to go in. I feel good about the package we've put together this season and I am confident that we will be competitive. At this time I would like take this opportunity to thank all the people who have supported me throughout the years."
"Since the very first test, Daniel has surprised all of us'" explained AIM Autosport's Keith Willis. "There are very few 15-year-old kids that can listen to what we tell them and turn that input into speed the very next session. Daniel is a natural talent that has progressed through the karting ranks."
Morad's already impressive resume includes multiple karting championships from the Stars of Karting series, World Karting Association Manufacturer's Cup, Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship and the Florida Winter Tour. In 2005, Morad garnered the Intercontinental C (ICC) Canadian National Championship becoming the youngest national champion at the age of 15.
Along with AIM Autosport and the Formula BMW USA Championship, Morad will continue to compete with the FirstKart.com race team in the selected races of Stars of Karting series, the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship and the Canadian National Championships. Morad will make sure that his race calendar is full as he will also compete in the Bridgestone F2000 Racing Series as a member of the Sunoco Ultra 94 team.
Daniel Morad and Morad Motorsports would like to thank current sponsors Metro Directories of Atlanta, GA, Statik Mountain Co. clothing for modern outdoors, Prokleen wash facilities and FirstKart.com. Daniel Morad would also like to extend a special thank you to Ron Fellows for the all the help and support that he has provided him over past racing seasons. Ron has always been there to offer driving and business advice while also acting as a mentor to the young Morad.
