Kevin Lacroix faces last rounds with a new attitude
St-Eustache, Quebec, July 28. -- Action will resume this coming weekend for Kevin Lacroix, of St-Eustache, as he enters both rounds of the Formula BMW series at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama. Idle for the last five weeks after the exciting visit in Indianapolis for the US Grand Prix, the French Canadian longs to take his Uni-Select #22 car to this winding 2.3 mile facility as undercard to the Grand-Am race. Leading the points standings after four double headers (eight races), the 16-year old rookie faces the remaining six rounds with a new attitude.
"It's hard to believe I lead the series after I DNF'd three rounds out of eight, says the young man. I must be doing something right with all those points, but on the other hand, I have to make sure I score points in every round. We have analyzed every race since the beginning of the season and we will take action for the second half starting in Barber this weekend. It's my goal more than ever to win the series in America and make the World finale in Bahrain. My team is ready to give me a good car and I will not disappoint them or my sponsors. I have trained a lot in the last weeks and took some time off with my family. Our testing in Putnam Park two weeks ago was also beneficial for the crew. It's almost like starting a new season, but a shorter one that must be rewarding."
A busy weekend
Starting Thursday, Kevin will take his FB2 car to the track for a full test day. "We're facing a 2.3 mile track with little straights and 17 turns, argues Lacroix. Setup is very important and a lot of time can be gained when you lap as mush as you can and work with your engineer in between sessions. For the first practice on Friday, I trust we will have a good car. As usual, we have two races over the weekend and I have been very strong on Saturday so far."
