Mosquito Motorsport - new team
It was announced today that a newly formed association between A.R.T. and a European FBMW/F3 team has been formulized with the opening of Mosquito Motorsport, to be located in Ontario, Canada. Personnel already operating within the FBMW series will head Mosquito Motorsport and staff will be announced as soon as the driver line-up is confirmed. The present plan is to have in 2006 a two-car team participating in the USA/Canada and the German Series. Advancements for the driver cadre towards the Infinity Pro Series are at this point under discussion with IPS for 2006/07.
"This business formula will give all Mosquito Motorsport drivers the unparalleled opportunity to race in Canada/USA and in Europe, within the Rules of FBMW , the chance to test during this year a higher horse-power car; And getting a feeling what Oval and road racing is all about. The main ingredient for a driver's American success is to learn to go fast - on Ovals as well as on road/street courses. To forget Ovals in the driver's curriculum would be to snuff noses at the most prominent and most marketable pastime spectator sport - NASCAR, IRL and other Oval/Street Series!" explained Ingo Strackerjan, team manager.
Atlantic Racing Team committed all their efforts, as one of the first teams to join in 2004, to the then new Formula BMW USA Series after having participated in various open wheel development series. Atlantic's main objective is giving young drivers the opportunity to develop their abilities and show them to a broader spectator and media base.
Well-connected and established relationships with European teams, promoters and managers alike will assure these young drivers a chance to leave their mark not only in the North American market but also in Europe, possible home of their racing future. Noack Motorsport of Germany, having laid the foundation for the success of drivers like Michael and Ralf Schumacher in the early 1990's and, more recently, Tobias Vettel amongst others, is now involved in Atlantic Racing Team's quest to produce open wheel talents for European teams. With the formation of Mosquito Motorsport, a joint-team venture, more European drivers will come to North America while opportunities are now better and less costly for North American drivers to go to a European racing venue.
Atlantic Racing and Mosquito Motorsport will pursue success over the next years at various open-wheel series in North America and Europe with driver talents from within the teams.
