PATRIZI FINISHES EIGHTH IN 2006 FORMULA BMW UK CHAMPIONSHIP
Michael Patrizi has finished eighth in the 2006 Formula BMW UK Championship after a trying final two rounds at Silverstone in England today.
The Australian qualified eighth for the first race and finished in that same position, earning him three points and taking his total scored in two years of Formula BMW competition to 230.
In the 20th and final race of the season Patrizi started from 13th on the grid and soon climbed his way into the top 10. The West Australian was working his way forward when car problems brought his race to an end.
Patrizi now looks forward to progressing into higher categories for next season after two years in Formula BMW. The 22-year-old is thankful for his time in the competitive category and is especially thankful of BMW Motorsport and its staff for everything they have done for the Kalgoorlie-born driver over the past two seasons.
WHAT HE HAD TO SAY --
Michael Patrizi -- #29 Motaworld Racing
"I would have liked to have finished my final event in Formula BMW on a better note but it wasn't to be," said Patrizi.
"We never had a front-running car all weekend. It was a tough couple of races and that sort of sums up our season.
"It's been a tough and challenging season but I will be a stronger driver because of it.
"I'd like to thank BMW Motorsport for the opportunity to race here in the Formula BMW UK Championship. I have learnt a huge amount over the past two seasons in Formula BMW.
"I'd also like to thank all of the people who have supported me this season racing both in Europe and North America.
"I can't wait for a bigger and better season in 2007."
