My Qi-Meritus.Mahara Offers Formula Scholarship to Develop QMMF Drivers
Thursday, February 12, 2009 - Mr. Nasser Khalifa Al Attiya QMMF President and LIC General Manager along with Mr. Peter Thompson President and founder My Qi-Meritus.Mahara today announced a formula car testing scholarship for young Qatar driver Khalifa Nasser AL Attiya, to try out the team championship winning Formula BMW Pacific cars. In addition QMMF logo would be displayed on the team cars 18 and 19 driven by the Italian Marco Bonanomi and the Portugese Alvaro Parente as part of the teams CSR programme to promote community sprit and appreciation of hosting their GP2 Asia team here in Qatar The QMMF logo on the My Qi-Meritus.Mahara livery of the two cars will be visible during the first ever night event the Qatar Grand Racing weekend event.
Mr. Nasser Khalifa Al Attiya President of QMMF and General Manager of LIC said while being interviewed by Bernama the official Malaysian news network and the county where the team is based: "The presence of the QMMF logo will provide the Losail event with an opportunity to raise the profile of the circuit higher and on a global basis during the race weekend both with the estimated 5,000 QuestNet team fans and visitors expected to attend the races at Losail circuit, and by exposure through the opportunity to reach the estimated television audience of tens of million globally".
Peter Thompson, president and team founder, My Qi-Meritus.Mahara commented, "The team is focused more than ever and ready for a new, exciting and entertaining event at the Losail International Circuit in QATAR this weekend on 13-14 February, 2009, with the entire race weekend taking place at night. Our team, Qi and QuestNet and the two drivers would like to support QMMF's outstanding efforts for this race and thank Mr. Nasser Khalifa Al Attiya for their support. The enthousiasm that the team have also discovered in the public through the supporting action from QuestNet the "proud sponsor of My Qi-Meritus.Mahara in the 2009 GP2 Asia Series" is incredibly encouraging. They are so supportive that the team is very highly motivated to achieve its mission going higher and reaching further."
Peter Thompson went on to say: I would also like to confirm that today will start a collaboration with QMMF with the idea of developing young talented drivers and helping bring them to the top of formula motorsport through participation in well established venues in Asian and the Middle East. The first step for formula drivers is Formula BMW Pacific, and the Meritus team is the Formula BMW champions for the past six years. In fact Meritus has won 32 Asian motorsport championships since 1996 and the team's first Asian Champion was Narain Karthiyhan in 1996 who went on become the first Indian to race in F1"
The President of the QMMF commented: "I look forward with anticipation for the Formula testing with the prestigious Qi-Meritus Mahara team on Sepang F1 circuit in Malaysia, and after we will evaluate the testing report and data, we will see if there is an opportunity for a QMMF driver to make the big move to formula motorsport.

Abduljawad have started their first ever visit to Qatar with a press conference in the presence of Mr. Nasser Khalifa Al Attiya, QMMF, President and LIC General Manager at the Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation Headquarters.
