Jackie Weiss with GU-Racing Team International at the officially FBMW Tests in Oschersleben (Germany)
The two-day test at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben for the Formula BMW-ADAC GERMANY Drivers was different than the Hockenheim and Nurburgring test days. The officials of the FBMW crew used the location to introduce the rookies to the rules and regulations for the Race Series along with presenting the BMW crew. Jackie Weiss and many others of the 25 drivers haven't been on this track before, so on friday morning the 11 teams were busy with testing their setups.
Best time friday morning was 1:29.283 from Marco Wittmann (Josef Kaufmann Racing), followed by 1:29.598 from Mirocha Kevin (ASL-Mucke Motorsport) and 1:29.779 from Maximilian Wissel (GU-Racing Team International). After lunchbreak every driver was cited to the classroom where Michael Strotmann, official instructor of the BMW GERMANY crew, gave them the briefing about the flags, the start, safety car procedure and regular race rules. And to bring theory into practice they acted out a normal start on the grid.
After 2 laps the safety car was supposed to come out, only for the practice session. Too bad that the safety car had to come out for a serious session, since in the second lap after the practice start a couple of cars collide in the first turn. It was a hard crash too, also the ambulance had to come out on the track. Luckily no bones were broken, but the cars had to get some heavy repairs...
On saturday morning the official BMW photographer Torsten Jerg took the pictures from Jackie Weiss and the others for their drivers profile in the official FBMW-ADAC GERMANY brochure and website. The whole morning the drivers switched between photoshooting and test driving.
Yesterday's best time from Marco Wittmann was beaten by Philipp Eng (ASL-Mucke Motorsport) with 1:29.149, followed by a close field of 6 more drivers, all of them in times of 1:29.283 until 1:29.860. Before the lunch the photographer was ready to take the group picture right on start/finish line. For Jackie Weiss and the 25 other drivers it was an easy job, comparing to beat the best time on the 2.28miles track.
