Beshro and Pétriello experience European!
Montreal, Québec - October 6th, 2007- Sportimage.net - Driver's Tommy Beshro from Québec and Jeffrey Pétriello from Terrebonne, recently visited the European continent for the first time. Their trip brought them to the driver development program in Mans, France before moving towards the prestigious Nevers-Magny-cours circuit for the World Series by Renault before concluding their trip in Belgium by attending the World karting championships.
"The specialists often speak to us about the development program for drivers in Europe. It is while discussing with Tommy (Beshro) and his father that we had the idea to go overseas," explained Jeffrey Pétriello, driver of the 2007 BMW USA series.
Although their objectives were different their goals remained the same.
Young karting driver Tommy Beshro was more attentive in Belgium where his next two years will determined his career in automobile racing. "We met teams and observed their hard work in the various disciplines reserved for the elite," explained Tommy Beshro. "Having Jeffrey (Pétriello) accompany me to the World Series and to Mans, helped me understand the objectives that need to be met in order to succeed in racing," he explains.
Jeffrey Pétriello did not hesitate to sell himself to the teams at the World Series by Renault for possibly testing the Renault 2 liters. "Just the fact of trying to sell yourself demands a tremendous amount of preparation which I did not know before this experience. Being a first contact helped a lot. Although I do not expect anything in return, I now understand what racing in Europe consists of. I am far from perfecting the driving style," explains Pétriello laughing.
The two drivers traveled more than 2000km in six days which allowed little time for visiting the cities. "We drove during the night in order to be on time for our meetings in the morning. We were far from having free time to visit," explains appointed driver, Tommy Beshro's father. "It was necessary to plan our meetings with the key people in order for them to be profitable, explains Tommy who took the opportunity to learn the business off- track.
A conclusive evaluation
Jeffrey Pétriello benefited from his visit to Mans in order to be evaluated physically and technically. "I did a physical test that lasted a good hour and 30 minutes with instructors on the Bugatti circuit. The tests were conclusive. I must strengthen my physical points such as cardio. The rest is on the right track," concluded Jeffrey.
This trip will allow Tommy and Jeffrey to make the necessary decisions that will enlighten their career choice, especially when certain development services will be presented to them.
