Victim of a bicycle accident-- Maxime Pelletier gives up the Asian tour Formula BMW

Montreal, Quebec, October 16, 2006- Sportimage.net- French Canadian driver, Maxime Pelletier, was the victim of a bicycle accident last Saturday. Unfortunately, he cannot complete the Asian tour in preparation for the world finals of the Formula BMW series.

"I was almost finished my three hour work out and at 15 minutes to the end of my training I fell," explained Pelletier, "I fractured my ribs that were already hurting me for months," he added. Because of his condition, he had no choice but to cancel his participation to the race this weekend on the Zhuhaï circuit.

"Despite our problems in Shanghaï, I was very confident that the team would work hard in preparing a car that would give me a chance to win in Zhuhaï," explains the young driver. Pelletier, who was the only Quebec driver to attempt this journey, had to inform his team, Gelles Racing, that his experiences in the Formula BMW Asia championship were ove,r due to his injury.

Maxime Pelletier, who competed in the North American Formula BMW Championship with his team, Gelles Racing, was the third driver to be recruited amongst all of the drivers.

This accident should not prevent Pelletier's participation in the Formula BMW series final held in Valencia, Spain on November 24, 25 and 26. This world final is important for the future stars of racing.
