Nicolas Kiesa scored PSM Racing Line's first championship points in the FIA Formula 3000 Championship at Spa (Belgium) and Tony Schmidt finished just outside the top ten.

Having qualified an impressive 7th Nicolas was unlucky to lose a few places at the first corner due to an accident between Antonio Pizzonia, Bjorn Wirdheim and Enrico Toccecelo.

At the end of the first lap Nicolas was in 8th position right behind Patrick Friesacher who from 13th on the grid had been able to make the most of the first corner accident.

On lap 6 Nicolas made the move of the race by passing Friesacher in a brave maneuver around the outside at Rivage. Nicolas then set about catching Derek Hill who had managed top pull out a 3 second advantage as Nicolas and Friesacher battled.

Every lap Nicolas edged closer to Hill and by lap 17 was right with him, with the increasing pressure Hill made a mistake on lap 19 which allowed Nicolas through to claim his first points of the season.

Tony Schmidt was unlucky in the first and faster qualifying session as his engine cut out on the first lap, however during the second session he pushed hard and ended up in 15th with a very respectable time for the session.

During the race he made a rapid start but was caught out at the first corner accident. Once he had negotiated the stranded cars at the hairpin he continue to lap at a very respectable pace and crossed the line in 11 position.

The season has been a difficult one for both of the PSM Racing line drivers, both have had more than there fair share of bad luck.

The team looks forward to the final race of the season at Monza on 14th September with renewed confidence.
