FIA INTERNATIONAL FORMULA 3000
OFFICIAL TEST AT IMOLA, ITALY

Day 2 - Thursday 7th March 2002

Petrobras Junior Team continued to progress today with the new cars and both drivers were on the pace when the quickest times of the day were set in the first hour of the morning session. Antonio got up to second on his new tyre run before dropping to sixth by the end of the session. Ricardo didn't quite get the ultimate time that he had hoped for from his second set of new tyres but nevertheless finished fifth quickest this morning. The afternoon session was slightly slower and the team continued trying out various set-ups. Antonio finished the afternoon sixth quickest and Ricardo ninth.

Antonio Pizzonia 1:37.584

"Another disappointing day for me, we have spent two days on the track and not made a lot of improvements on the car. We are probably one second off the pace so I'm not very happy. I hope we can improve at Silverstone as it's the last opportunity before the first race in Brazil."

Ricardo Sperafico 1:37.480

"I am quite happy overall with the two days. I just missed out a bit on the second set of tyres this morning as I was quicker on my first set and this doesn't normally happen. We found a few problems on the car, but we did a good programme of running and we're on the pace but unfortunately we just didn't find the best lap. We tested the car with a full tank like in race conditions and the times were consistent. I think you have to learn the maximum you can at these tests because once you start the championship you don't get a lot of time to test and improve. This afternoon we used the time to try and improve the car a little. I hope that Silverstone isn't wet next week, as I want to test the car in dry conditions to arrive ready in Brazil."

Team Manager - Paul Jackson

"We got some good mileage in today with both drivers and although we didn't figure at the top of the time sheets we have a lot of information now which will help us to develop the car. When we ran new tyres we didn't seem to have the balance quite right but on used tyres and particularly on full tanks we seemed to be pretty competitive. Now we have to go to Silverstone and hopefully get all the right ingredients together so that we are fully prepared for the first race."
