Enrico Toccacelo impressed observers today with his debut on the streets of Monaco. The young italian, racing for Coloni Motorsport, ended the qualifying session 4th quickest following a superb run in the first session, only bettered by Bourdais, Rodrigo Sperafico and Friesa-cher. Toccacelo lapped the 2nd time in the first session and he was able to improve in the second, but an electric problem stopped his Lola at the Rascasse. Anyway, the twists and turns of Monaco's 2.094 miles held no obstacle to Toccacelo, who did an excellent job.

Giorgio Pantano already had the experience of racing here from last year, but the luck was not with him today. In the first qualifying ses-sion Pantano had a set-up problem. In the second session was hoping to improve on his time but, unfortunately, struggled to find a clear lap free from traffic and yellow flags, and he failed to go quicker.

Enrico Toccacelo: "I was on the pace and the car felt very good. I am confident with the race."

Giorgio Pantano: "In the second session I didn't get a single clear lap. I was unlucky. It is so frustrating sometimes."

Coloni Motorsport: "We are very happy for Toccacelo but disap-pointed for Pantano. Anyway, we are confident with the race."
