Following good qualifying performance by the Coloni Motorsport's drivers, Giorgio Pantano, who starting from third place on the grid, was hoping to pass Bourdais at the start and get pressure to the pole sitter Tomas Enge. Enrico Toccacelo was hoping to move up a couple of places from starting seventh on the grid to get his first podium of the season. Giorgio Pantano made a good start but unfortunately he has been passed from Haberfeld before the first corner. Pantano regained the third position with a spectacular overtaking at the Lycée corner before the safety car was deployed on lap eleven. When the race restarted Pantano was unable to pass Bourdais ed Enge but kept fighting until the last corner. Enrico Toccacelo had one of the best start of the season and went up from seventh to fifth at the first corner. He drove a good race, fighting with Pizzonia to finish in sixth position, another points result. Toccacelo drove very consistent and was performing well. Pantano confirmed the third position in the Drivers Championship by 24 points with four races remaining, while Enrico Toccacelo is eleventh in the points standing with 4 points. Coloni Motorsport enjoyed the third position in the Teams Championship by 28 points.

Giorgio Pantano -position 3-

"I really tried everything in the race but it was not sufficient to pass Bourdais and Enge. I'm happy as we had a great race, but there was a significant difference in the maximum speed between Enge, Bourdais and my self. I did my best and I took a good result for the Team who worked very well to provide to me a performing car. Now, I will concentrate on Hockenheim and try to get my first pole."

Enrico Toccacelo -position 6-

"I had a great start and I enjoyed two position before the first corner. I tried to keep pace with the cars in front but I had a lot of understeer and the car was really sliding around. Anyway, I tried to push really hard but the car did not permitted to maintain the fifth position and I pulled down on sixth. We have to improve my car in race conditions."

Paolo Coloni -Team Principal Coloni Motorsport-

"What a great race! Pantano pushed Bourdais hard all the way from the start to the chequered flag, attempting several times to overtake but not successfully. Pantano was snapping at Bourdais' gearbox throughout the race as the top three were covered by just two seconds. Toccacelo had a really strong race to still finish in sixth place. He conquered two positions at the start but he lost one place in favour of Pizzonia, because of undesrteer. His lap times were impressive and Toccacelo made no mistakes. The next race at the new Hockenheim circuit in Germany will be very interesting as no one has raced there before."
