Enrico Toccacelo 2°, Giorgio Pantano 3°: The Coloni Motorsport'red Lola shine in Hungaroring!
What exciting race! For the first time in F.3000, Coloni Motorsport conquered the podium with both two drivers: Enrico Toccacelo finished 2nd and Giorgio Pantano 3rd after a great race.
The two italian talented drivers maintained the starting positions and during all the race they got pressure to the poleman Enge. Unfortunately, it is impossible to overtake at the Hungaroring track and Toccacelo and Pantano were forced to follow Enge for all the 38th laps.
At the first corner, Toccacelo took the inside line and turned in 2nd position. Pantano tried to overtake his team mate, but he preferred to maintain the 3rd position and decided to do not take risks. In the first 15 laps, Toccacelo and Pantano pushed a lot Enge, but the Czech driver was able to defend his leadership.
Enrico Toccacelo: "I am extremely happy, it is a fantastic result for me. This is my first podium in F.3000 and I want to dedicate it to my sponsors and to the Team. The race has been very tough and Pantano pushed me until the chequered flag. I tried to take the lead, but here it is impossible to overtake. The car was fantastic all the week-end and if I did not start in the dusty side of the track, maybe I could win. I am looking forward with confidence for the next races. Now, I want to take my first victory!"
Giorgio Pantano: "I am a little bit disappointed, because at the first corner I tried to overtake Toccacelo, but he braked strong and I did not want to take any risk. In the first laps I was faster than him, but unfortunately here it is impossible to overtake. The podium is good for the championship, but I want to win the ultimate two races. I am confident with Spa-Francorchamps race, because the car is performing well and it is quick with all conditions."
